On a rainy Sunday, September 13th, five members of the book club buckled up and headed to Union, CT, for a short drive to Blondie’s Travelers Diner. Conveniently located just off Route 84, right over the Massachusetts border, the group enjoyed a quintessential diner breakfast—with a plot twist of its own!
With their meals, each member was invited to choose three free used books. After enjoying hearty platters of pancakes, French toast, eggs, corned beef hash, omelets, and breakfast sandwiches, the ladies of Plot Twisters settled in to peruse the extensive collection of used books lining the spacious dining room.
As an added bonus, their super-friendly waitress invited them downstairs to the diner’s “book cellar,” where they discovered an even larger collection of used books spanning a wide variety of genres and topics, all available for purchase. Needless to say, the book lovers were right at home!
To make the day complete, the group stopped at Cursed Page Bookstore in Sturbridge, MA, on the way home. This unique independent bookstore is a wonderland for lovers of mystery, suspense, and horror. With a vibe that feels like Halloween all year long, Cursed Page is filled with books exploring the paranormal and macabre, along with strange curiosities and artifacts that seem to have come from beyond our realm.
For the Plot Twisters, it was the perfect literary road trip: good food, great books, a little bit of mystery, and plenty of adventure!
