Storywalk on the SNETT: The Busy Beast

School is out (or almost out) for just about everyone, and kids are starting to exhibit that Mel Gibson-esque “FREEDOM!” attitude. This storywalk leans into it. Posts 1-6 are a cautionary tale against overscheduling, but starting a post 7 the tide turns and you could crank up School’s Out by Alice Cooper if you’re walking with headphones, ear pods, air buds, or whatever we’re using these days.

The Busy Beast is a disagreeable monster who comes to town and fills everyone’s schedules to the brim. But his tenure ends when the children push back and demand more time for play. With rhyming verse and compelling illustrations, the book invites families to start a conversation about busyness and, perhaps, to slow down a bit.
