Spring is here! And as you know, April Showers bring May Flowers. Make sure that your gardens are ready.

The SFPL Gardeners’ Seed Library had vegetable and flower seeds available. Come and take a look to see what is available. And if you happen to have any extra seeds, feel free to donate them for someone else to plant in their garden!

Join us at the Simon Fairfield Public Library with Art Educator Julie Harrold as we commemorate Goose’s escapades through Douglas last year by painting monitor lizards!

You will be guided step by step in brush techniques, blending, and how to layer to create a monitor lizard in it’s habitat on an 11 x 14 canvas (Supplies Included).

Please call 508-476-2695 to register – we’ll have 12 seats.
This is an adult paint event, but children 14 and up are welcome with an adult.

SFPL Gardeners
Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:30 am

This April, the Gardeners will be taking another field trip. This time, just two miles up the road from the Library to the Chesebrough Farm. After touring the farm, we will get the chance to learn how to prune grapes. Hopefully the April Showers will hold off and the weather will be good! However, should it rain, we will stay at the library and have a good chat anyway.

We will meet at the library at 10:30 AM and carpool to the farm. If you have any questions, please contact us at 508-476-2695 or email at douglas@cwmars.org.

Simon Fairfield Sleuths
Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 9:30 am

Join our team of sleuths as we solve the case! We will be working out the mystery of The Murder of a Musician.

A murder has been committed in London’s famous Monastery Road Studios. Renowned saxophonist and songwriter, Roland “Stubby” Hackett, died during a recording session due to an allergic reaction, but initial forensic investigations have brought up clues to suspect foul play is at hand.

Register by calling the library at 508-476-2695 or Click Here to Register Online.

Writer’s Accountability Group
Monday’s 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Looking for a cozy spot to write in our community? Join freelance writer Leah Allen-Manning for a weekly writers’ accountability group! Whether you’re writing essays, short stories, poems, or the next Great American Novel, all are welcome.

Bring your own work or respond to an optional writing prompt to get started. (Note this is not a workshop, so sharing your writing with the group is completely optional.)

This program is for grownups. If you find that disappointing, please reach out to Justin at jsnook@cwmars.org with the age of interested participants and we’ll see if we can collect enough to get a youth writing group started.
