Since I started here in June 2015, I have never opened a book drop I could not empty in three trips or less. Yesterday morning, it took six. We expect there to be more books than average after a holiday weekend. We also expect there to be a lot of returns right before school vacation week as everyone is either spring cleaning, going away, or both. The sheer volume of books in Monday morning’s bin is indicative of much more than that, though, and circulation statistics every month so far this year uphold a very uplifting truth:
Douglas, as a community, is reading library books. More than ever before. Significantly. Keep it up, please!
